The historic gathering of mainly Black Women of Faith in the city of Accra in Ghana, was successfully concluded today on 16 September 2024. “When women conceive of an idea in their minds, it gets done”, says the Rev. Dr. Cassandra Gould from the US Black Women’s Delegation. “We are holding this historic gathering when both America and Ghana are faced with crucial elections in less than three months time which should re-echo women’s agenda”, says Hajia Ayishetu Abdul-Kadiri, who is the Chairperson of the Board of FAITH in Ghana Alliance. “Throughout Christian scripture, God’s major actions for humanity have been done with women”, (Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, Founder & President of the Salt and Light Ministries in Ghana). Hajia Fatima Baba Konney, who is a Regional Leader and Organizer from Western Regionof Ghana, emphasized that “Multifaith Women Leaders will take organizing to all Women social and professional networks”.
Rev. Sr. Regina Ignatia Aflah of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer Religious Sisters, who is also Legal Secretary of FAITH in Ghana Alliance has contemplated “a creative and progressive partnership agenda between Faith in Action International and FAITH in Ghana Alliance with this landmark gathering of Women of Faith”.
With this historic convening, FAITH in Ghana Alliance is feeling very optimistic about a 2025 Jubilee Year agenda for Multifaith Organizing which will see many more women leaders building power for social transformation. The overall theme of the Conference, “SISTERS in SOLIDARITY; Women of Faith Building Power for Peace, Development and Social Change”, did not end with the closing of this conference but has instead just ignited new agenda for ORGANIZING.
